4.23.12

just got back from a short run. it felt good, but was a little hot. i will be busting out the tank tops for my next run on wednesday. i try and run during c's morning nap, and he sleeps in the jogging stroller. he is still napping in it right now.

this past weekend was interesting. after a major chomp from c that left me crying and thinking i might need stitches - i have decided to quit nursing. he is almost 10 months. i was hoping to make it to 11 and start him on cows milk a little early (i know, #badmom). but, 6 teeth = no bueno. so i busted out all the similac samples and he has done surprisingly okay with the transition. and i think my body was ready to be done too because so far it hasn't been too painful. i have been pumping every 12 hours, and am hoping to be all dried up in the next week/week-and-a-half.

i little while ago, i borrowed a bunch of efy cds from my friend who works for them. i wanted to compile a few mixes for my baby brother who just got his mission call. one song i came upon, i completely fell in love with.

it is called, i am his daughter by nicole sheahan. first of all, the piano is beautiful and sounds amazing on our sound system. her voice is lovely. and the song is perfect to sing along with. i played it on repeat for most of the day yesterday.

it is a great pick me up song.

i am so grateful for the divine heritage that i have and am more grateful that i know about it. there are so many people lost and confused about life. looking for meaning in odd places, or even worse, deciding that there is no meaning to life - allowing them to loose the light of Christ within them as they are hardened by the world.

you can definitely tell the song is meant to inspire teenage girls. which had me reflecting back on my teenage years. i remember thinking, 'i wish i was born in a hut in africa.' i felt like i could endure the physical challenges way better than the ones i was given by living in the modern world  - challenges testing my faith, attacking my morals... peer pressure. worldliness. i longed for a simpler life. it was hard to keep sight of the divinity within myself. i think this song would have helped me lots then.

i hope that if i ever have daughters, i can help them remember who their father is... and to see the bigger picture.
