halloween

calvin's uncle john surprised him with this super cute dino costume for halloween.

i had to work on halloween, so calvin spent the day at my mom and dads'.

they dressed him up and took some fun pictures of him with jackson:

jackson was cosmo, the byu mascot.

i was pretty bummed i missed out on all the fun, but you've got to do what you've got to do.

california

last weekend we went to sunny southern california for the lovely miss kimmy's, now mrs, wedding.
it was way fun to see all the people from my 'home' ward at her reception, and catch up.

it was a trip we were kind of worried about making.. 700 + miles in a car with a 3 month old who hates his car seat?? scary.

but in reality the kid did GREAT! seriously. he slept the whole way there and did pretty well on the way home even though he was sick.

mistakes we laugh about

hi sweet boy,

momma made a mistake.

i tried to use my nursing skills and my otoscope to look in your ears 

and thought there was nothing wrong.

i thought that you were just sick with a cold and you would get over it soon.

it's been a few days now.

you've been so sad, and have struggled eating.

yesterday i took you to see dr. clayton.
he found infections in both your ears.
momma felt terrible.
i was really sad about it.
you and i cuddled all night again.
i just want you to feel better.
you seemed to have slept better last night.
and you woke up smiling and cooing.
i think the medicine is kicking in.
i love you, my little man (you were 14 lbs 5 oz yesterday at 3.5 month old)
and i will love you forever,

cal spent the day with grandma while j worked and i was at school.

she's been such a lifesaver!

it was comforting to know my babe was in good arms.

i came home to a clean house, a clean, sleeping baby and homemade chicken noodle soup!

my mom on the other hand had presents from cal all over her clothes.

the best thing happened tonight,

calvin laughed. like really laughed.

he's done a few random chuckles here and there, 

but tonight he thought his dad was hilarious.

two questions:

lately i have been wondering....

1. what color eyes will cal end up having? 

they are starting to get a little brown in them,

but sometimes they look green..

or will they go back to blue?

and...

2. how did my little boy go from this:

to this:

in 3 short months?

3 months!!!

woo.. woo...

baby c is three months, and we LOVE this stage.

he gets more and more fun everyday.

don't you just want to kiss those sweet cheeks??

he is still super social and loves talking and smiling.

he has definitely figured out he has hands, and loves putting them in his mouth.

his favorite thing to do right now is use his pointer fingers..

if you look closely at almost all the pictures we have taken the last little while he has his little pointers out and ready. 

we love it.  

he also uses them to scratch at things - particularly my skin, daddy's arm hair, his toys, or his blankets

he likes to nuzzle his face into whoever is helping him fall to sleep..

he always starts each night in his crib, and ends it in bed with me... 

(it's hard with my clinicals and all the babysitting, to keep him on a schedule.. so i decided i'll wait and do the sleep training thing when i am done with my capstone.. until then.. i'll continue to secretly enjoy my cuddle time with him)

he likes to play peek-a-boo.

and has started to drool lots.

he loves to people watch.

he'll follow you all around the room, even if it makes him look up-side-down

and he gets the biggest smiles when you make eye contact with him.

he went golfing for the first time last week:

he has also assisted in a few photo shoots, including this early-morning one.

he hates getting strapped into his carseat. 

and he hates when we change his clothes.

well, i think that's all for now!
