halloween,16 weeks, and gender...

last night cal went trick or treating for the first time.

he, jackson, and grandma dressed up and we went out to a few houses in grandma's neighborhood.

c was a little scared at first, but he caught on quick... and he was definitely excited about the candy.

 we ate a yummy dinner and spent time with family while passing out treats.

earlier that day...

i actually had time to get ready for the day and document my growing bump...

and then

at 1:00 we met up with josh and headed to the doctor's office to have an early ultrasound.

this pregnancy has been a bit surreal to us for a few reasons, 

so it was a little weird to actually see a baby inside me.

at the same time, it felt so perfect, and exciting, and right.

i could have laid there all day watching the little one move around on that black and white screen - little hands opening and closing, and arm's swinging around.

the baby was sitting indian style at first making it hard to see the gender, but it was cute to see those little ankles crossed and feet so comfy.

when the tech finally got a view of the parts.. i didn't see much there..

i asked if it was a girl, and she said she wasn't sure yet.. that she felt like she saw both at different points.. that the baby's cord was also obscuring the view..

she readjusted the angle, and turned on something that showed what was the cord, and what wasn't.. 

she pointed to something and called it outdoor plumbing.. 

it's another BOY.

whew... i have really been hoping he was a boy..

it will be so fun for the boys to be so close in age,

they can share a room (aka, we get to still have a guest room),

we already have all the boy clothes, boy decor, boy toys.. etc.

anyways, i did a really good job of keeping it a secret for a whole 4 hours, until cal opened this 'dino' egg at the halloween party: 

 it had a little dinosaur inside with blue confetti.

 we have our official anatomy scan the week after thanksgiving.

let's hope this first tech told us the right thing..

cabin time

 o how we love the cabin!

josh took friday off of work, and after a round of golf for josh, we headed up to oakley.

our trip consisted of:

jumping in fall leaves

 making caramel apples (divine!)

cal waking up at 6 am, so we sat on the porch and watched a gorgeous sunrise.. 

and listened to the sounds of distant shotguns - poor bambi.

 grandpa was the next one up, and he came out and joined us.

cal sat on his lap for an hour and a half while we chatted.

it reminded me of living at home and eating breakfast on the back porch with my dad - enjoying the beautiful mountains, and each other's company.

 the whole trip calvin was obsessed with the dogs.. 

this was the first time we have really let him play with the 'puppies'.

they can be a little rambunctious, and we didn't want c getting hurt.

well, they were little gems with cal, and it was fun to see them interact.

but, also let us know that he enjoyed it.

what's not pictured:

- relaxing and watching movies (p.s i loved snow white and the huntsman)

- card games

more fall fun.

sharsti invited us to go to gardener's village to go on a 'witch hunt' with some friends from her ward.

i had never been there before and would love to go back sans baby c to really enjoy all the cute shops.

 

the next day, she and neeley joined us at farm country at thanksgiving point.

 more animals, a horse carriage ride, and a room full of farm fun.

 love these two boys!

luckily, sharsti was awesome at taking pictures because even though i brought my camera.. somehow i only ended up with the following:

jaker's pumpkin patch

we have a really fun playgroup going in our ward.

one week we went to jaker's pumpkin patch in springville.

the highlight was definitely the big corn box.

 seriously. the best idea ever.

 our ward is full of kids cal's age, and most of them are boys.. so fun!

they had a lovely display of farm animals...

we went on a tractor ride, and picked out some pretty pumpkins.

ready to be bombarded with a bunch of fall posts?

we will start with my parent's ward (formerly mine) fall party

and these cute boys:

 they had a little petting zoo consisting of these goats, and some chickens..

the boys loved it.. 

and calvin was even brave enough to feed the goat some honeycomb.

 aunt alisha took calvin on the train ride before we headed inside for some yummy chili and treats.

FHE at the park

we are so lucky to have two really nice parks within walking distance from our house.

last week, we had an early dinner and took c to play at the park for fhe.

he was one big smile the whole time.

are what make this 15-month-old the happiest kid around.
